Is there anyone that can tell me the ways to spot a legitimate prodrive if there is no certificate to prove this. Thanks

The centre caps of the wheels will have prodrive logos, the exhaust note will be much louder, the exhaust tail will have prodrive stamped on it. If it has no certificate I would walk away anyway.

Mine has a certificate. It would probably be worth contacting Prodrive to see if they have any record of this car having the 3Ps.

As the last poster says, the end of the exhaust should have Prodrive embossed into it. I wouldn't rely on that alone, though.

Easy....it won't be as quick as one with a custom remap! biggrin

Seriously though, it should have a certificate. Easiest way is to check for a Prodrive logo on the exhaust.

Give subaru a call to confirm. I have fitted the Prodrive back box to my car but it's standard other than that.

I quite agree however if you worked on that principle alone you could go on forever. Got to be worth having gander at the exhaust all the same. wink

When i was buying my Subaru it didnt come with a certificate so i was unsure of purchasing it, however i gave SUbaru UK a call on the number provided earlier, and they were very helpful and gave me all the neccesary details and a free prodrive certificate, it is very easy to attach a prodrive exhaust and claim it as a PPP, so wouldnt rely on that solely.

Don't rely on the Prodrive logo on the centre wheel caps. Mine's got PPP, but the wheels are pure Subaru. I suspect that Prodrive wheels were an extra.

Best and nearly only way to check is to contact Subaru if the car has no certificate (with matching numbers).

Each ECU is individually numbered IIRC. Exhaust's are available seperately and or Second Hand as is the sports cat and fuel pump. It's very easy to copy one of these but again this doesn't mean it's an official car. ECU swaps aren't unheard of!! You'll pay extra for the PPP even though a Mapped car from the likes of (Insert Tuner here) will be quicker. So your best off making sure it's a genuine example.

The wheels as mentioned earlier in this thread might have Prodrive centre caps but in mind that the Prodrive centres fit the replica wheels!

Agreed; my WRX has standard Subaru wheels too. Fairly sure I haven't seen mention of wheels before, but perhaps the STI has them?

Naaah - the earliest ones didn't. I know as I have both the two types/sets.

Agreed, My P1 Alloys when new had OZ racing on the Rim and centre caps.

I also had PFF7's fitted new to a later JDM car, they had Prodrive caps, but obviously the car wasn't.

If you are looking at Classics, the hose between the Intercooler and Turbo should be blue silicove and have the words Prodrive in white. If you can get to it, the ECU should have a certain code on it. I have a picture of one, off the car somewhere.

Of course, none of this is absolute proof as these cars are so common now, that bits can be sold and bought, the fitted to other cars.
The dealer is the palce to go and confirm, if a PPP kit was ever officially fitted, although that does not grarantee it is still on there.

On 01/02 UKDM STI's subaru offered a 'Prodrive' body pack (Spoiler, Lights, grill). This could be fitted without the car having PPP fitted.

My Impreza ('05 STi) has PPP and I've got a little silver decal indicating the fitment of PPP on the door frame of the car on the drivers side (and possibly the passengers side - can't remember off hand!). If you open the door and look at the car side on, its on the bottom left of the door frame (on the car itself, not on the door).

As has been said though, if you get in touch with Prodrive they can confirm the installation of the pack on your car - thats the safest option!
