Impreza problems on start up
Discussion
Need the answer to a problem if i can?
Since it has been colder the scooby has been really uneven on start up, and today i think (know) it was misfiring every few seconds. Now should i be looking to get the car into the garage asap, is this a generic problem in the cold that i have just not dealt with before, or most unlikely, is this going to be something really simple that even a man as technically unskilled as myself can manage.
Any advice please let me know.

If your coil packs are OK and plugs look good then the usual issue with Subaru's and cold starting is the Coolant temp sensor. If this starts playing up then it doesn't matter if the weather is hot or cold....you will have probs starting. Once the engine is warmed up all your problems melt away.
This is not an uncommon problem across all WRX/STi Impreza classic and newage. The ECU relies on the Coolant temp sensor for all cold start settings so everything from start up enrichment and timing to idle, crank fuelling and Turbo boost is affected. When this sensor goes wrong the ECU defaults to warm start up settings and results in some rough running on cold start. It's no big deal apart from it will get worse as the sensor eventually completely fails.
Check all the obvious stuff first as Orangecurry has suggested and then look at Coolant temp sensor.
