What's it for? What's your budget? Have you tried both?

As much as I love my 3000GT I'd go for a WRX over a N/A GTO everytime. Get the TT version if you are going to get a GTO.

budget about £3000 want it for weekend car to spend some time and money on so dont know if i want performance or show been offered a mint gto n/A with new cambelt ,tensioners, water pump and pulleys new clutch, brake lines, shocks, caliper kit and tyres for £1750 which would leave me enough to get interior done in red/black leather .

GTOs are a big, heavy barge with a reputation for being competent but uninvolving. Drive both, see what you prefer - my money would be on the Subaru.

It al comes down to how you like the car. If it's a weekend car, then I guess petrol costs could be kept low. I personally would take the Impreza as the GTO feels a bit lardy (I've only driven a GTO for about 2 hours, never driven an Impreza though).

IIRC, the Impreza's about half a tonne lighter than the GTO and prob a lot simpler and cheaper to maintain. I know which I'd go for...

seems pretty cheap, im sure you will enjoy it but its not much of a handler and a non-turbo just doesnt have the power that the car looks like it should have.

Just curious why would you want to spend money modding such a car?? Surely at
some point you are going to want more performance.
