Got a suzuki ignis sport, do i really need a short shifter? i've been thinking about getting one for a while... but its rather expensive and the shift isnt THAT far apart... just wondering if anyone has the same car with one or have alot of experience with short shifters? annoying thing is that usually if i look at them they need to be imported from japan... costs £300-£400!!! seems like a rip off to me. seen one on ebay for like £180 inc delivery... not as bad...

I will be going over to hong kong in the summer and could send one over myself it the price is right... but then again i'm scared that it wont be the one I need...

Please help! biggrin

There was an article recently about a company that does them for £50 for any model of car. The article said they were good for drag racing but not really a lot else. All you're doing is cutting down on shift time so drive time is higher, so it takes less time to cross the line (if that makes sense) but generally, they're not much use day to day.

I had a short shift in my STI, which I've just chopped for a GB270. This also has a short shifter. when i had the loan of a car without the short shifter over christmas it felt like a truck gear change in comparison. There's no real world advantage, unless you do a lot of track days etc. But I personaly really like them.

Cool, got any links to the thread or the company? and anyone on here used the company which i guess "custom makes" the short shifters? eg anyone got a good review for them?

Thanks

Jeremy, unfortunately this was an article in a magazine, not on PH.

However, this should do the trick as it's from the company suggested.

http://www.nengun.com/suzuki-sport/ss-short-shifte...

There's also this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzukisport-Short-Throw-Shif...

but most of the short shifters mentioned come from companies aiming at higher production manaufacturers such as Nissan and Toyota.

Good luck with your search though.
