Dazed and confused, what Mods
Discussion
Hi All
I have a completely unmolested 55 STI Type UK PPP. The car has 7k miles and is mint.
I have been looking at a few things, ECUTEK remap Milltek exhaust but keep falling short of biting the bullet.
Main reasons for this are;
No one is confident of confirming power outputs after upgrading
With my car being a PPP, the gains from package Mods are smaller than someone taking in a standard STI they take off all PPP kit) but the costs are the same (e.g I get 40 BHP from 300Bhp where as the standard STI gets 75Bhp from 265Bhp). Prices have varied between 2-3k to get to 340Bhp
Has anyone else encountered this, if so what have you chosen to do? Any other advice on Milltek etc would be appreciated
Look forward to hearing your responses
Cheers

Hi Jon,
I am too in a similar position to yourself. I have a standard 55 plate Hawkeye STI without the PPP and have been looking for the best sensible way to get the most out of the car power wise without going too crazy.
I recently came across the upgrade offered by Powerstation which includes a full miltek system, remap and air filter and will take the car to 340Bhp/340Ibft for £1399 (sports cat) or £1149 (de-cat). Seems like a good price and package comes with comprehensive warranty. Not sure where abouts you are based but Powerstation are in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
Butch.

Jon,
Agree with Vixpy - just get a remap and maybe a panel filter. You've already got probably the best fuel pump and downpipe cat for the STi so no need to change those. Panel filter should be about £40 and a remap would be about £600-650. If you had £2-3k to spend I'd set your sights a bit higher - like 400bhp via a new turbo, injectors, etc, etc.
I used Scoobyworld in the past and found them really helpful. They're based in Loughborough and (I think) they use Jolly Green Monster to do their mapping. Alternatively, Zen Performance in Wellingborough will give you good advice and they've got a very good reputation.

Shouldn't have to change the turbo to get the sort of BHP your looking for.
As already mentioned the Fuel Pump will handle the increase the cat whilst better than standard can be improved by going with a de cat. Also Panel filter from ITG / Green etc will see you right.
As for the Milltek it depends on what you want it to sound like? In my experience (I'm a Milltek Dealer) there a good compromise of nice tone / sound without getting you an ASBO or a headache after a long journey. Oh and my tip is to get the Spec C resonated centre section instead of the straight through. Just calm's it slightly and stops any resonating through the cabin.
Simon (JGM) Comes highly recommended by a lot of my friends over here in Northern Ireland.
Should have a few pennies left over for an Whiteline Anti Lift Kit

Cheers Guys
Thanks Butch, the mod for the blob eye from Powerstation is £2799 and involves replacing the turbo. For 40 BHP approx, it seems a bit steep and extreme.
Does my turbo really need changing to get to 340-350 BHP?
Cheers
