Can anyone help with the name of the special edition blob-eye Imprezaa that came out a couple of years ago? Maybe another RB name?

That would be the WR1. The RB320 (possibly what you're thinking of) is a Hawk-eye special edition.

They did two special editions at the end of the salon/sports back Impreza range, they were the RB320, it was a lovely car and I can highly recommend one, and the GB270.

RB320 based on salon STI, in black only with 320 made, and 320ps

GB270 based on WRX IIRC 200 salons and 100 sports backs available in blue or silver with 270ps

Thanks for that, the RB320 seems to be about £21k at the moment, about £10k above the equivalent WRX. not sure I could justify the extra cost.

GB270 in blue is probably the best looking hawkeye. Around £13-15k at the moment. I want one but out of my league!

RB320 is nice, but very BLACK!

I have seen them as low as £15k so keep looking , Totally different car to the wrx and worth a small premium but not 10k!
Gb270 a good option imho will always have last of the saloon impreza's value, that said again in imho Sti's are better cars.

sti will have better brakes suspension-i think rb320's got ohlins suspension and uprated rear arb and engine than equivalent wrx so worth extra in long run

GB270 is a good car but lacks some of the STI nice bits, like Brembos. A bit of tinkering with it though and it becomes a very quick car on the road due to the huge torque you can generate from the 2.5 engine.
