Im looking at getting a new car when my insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month.
I have been looking at getting another Honda Crx Vtec. Although have quite fancied getting a Mistibushi Fto Gpx. I have recieved different opinions on both the cars, And Cannot decide which one I would prefer.
I will be using the car as an everyday car to get to work etc. But am also looking to attend various track days.
I was hoping people on here could give me there pro's and con's for both of the cars, In terms of practicality and performance to try and help with my decision.
Thank you all in advance.

if you go a a fto mivec then the manual box is a must (unless you only have one leg!) decent enough car if you can get one for the right money, of course a cambelt change is a pain in the arse and most people only bother changing the front 3 plugs cos they are the ones that are easy to get at! ive had a couple in the past and always found them fun (in a front wheel drive kind of way) cant comment on the crx although i cant see them making the 200hp that the mivec does

Would an MR2 not be a good choice?
This. I found the FTO only looks good. Would rather much prefer the CRX from a driving POV but it's getting a bit old now (unless you can find a really nice unmolested example). MR2 is probably a better choice but is only a 2 seater. How badly do you need 4 seats? FTO can only have children in the back.TotalControl said:

That isn't strictly true. It's not comfy by any stretch of the imagination but I've had 6ft+ rugby players in the back with their 6ft+ rugby player brother in the front. The back has more room than an Alfa GTV, but admittedly less room than any saloon anywhere (ever). Also the FTO has a big useable boot and can comfortably fit a moutainbike in the back if needed - something an MR2 might struggle with.
What's your budget OP, that might help narrow down the options? And do you need a practical car as otherwise an MR2 turbo or various other options might well be worth a look.

I've got 3k currently , but still have 2 months before my insurance is ready for renewal so will have around 3.5 - 4k to spend. 2 Seats are not an issue, my first Crx only had the 2 front seats so thats fine. Mr2 turbo would be nice but im only currently 19 so insurance would be silly.
I live in Cornwall so alot of the roads are twisty B roads etc, So im looking for something that will give me a little fun on the way to work and back. But on the weekends I can use it as a bit of a poser.
Im really one minded when it come's to cars and won't buy anything unless its jap. So things like 106 gti's , saxo's and clio sports don't tempt me in the slightest bit.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far all. Also answers why there are 5 Mr2's in my estate although I think there all gti 16's

If it has to be Jap though I guess a UK JDM Integra might be a better option than the FTO. A lot more expensive for what you get with very similar performance etc but insurance ought to be a bit less.
Actually just knock this down to <£4k and buy it, looks like a nice example:

3.0 liter twin turbo + 4wheeldrive = lots of fun. And with a few basic mods it's very easy to reach 400 - 500 BPH.
