Hi, I've also asked about this in general gassing and just found this forum.

Pasted:
Hi, just after some advice, I've got a BMW 318i Vert for sale, and someone offered a P/X for a Subaru Impreza WRX. The car has no history but the seller seems genuine enough. I was wondering how I would find out who imported the car so I can check the mileage when it was imported. Also what are the common problems to look out for on these cars and turbo cars in general as I don't have enough experience to know.

Thanks in advance.

There have been plenty of threads over the past few months on Subaru Reliability/import etc.. have a quick search and see if that helps.

But regarding milage/history. When a car is usually imported most of its history disapears, you really need to judge the car by its condition v milage to see if you fee that the milage correlates to the general condition of the car. If you are not comfortable with this then ask a local indy to give the car a inspection for you.

its an import, first registered in the uk 22/05/2003,8 owners since imported, declared year of manufacture 1993 VIN GC8-005796 no record of the mileage, although i would always buy on condition not what the speedo says.
also for some reason the hpi shows the car as an impreza gl, although i wouldnt worry about it as the dvla always f*ck up import registrations

It could be a rare Type RS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza_WRX#.2...

Does it say 1.8 on the log book?

But more likely a DVLA f'up

[edit]
Re-reading again it won't be an Type RS if it was imported in 2003

The "Impreza GL" dvla cock up is well known. My STI RA is a rare model called "2 axle ridged body"... wink
