Navara queries
Discussion
I've had a look at a Navara this afternoon as I need a truck for moving things about. Just under 100k miles, good price and an honest private seller. Couple of things I'm slightly concerned about:
When you're trundling along fairly slowly, say 30-40 mph, on a flat road (ie there's not much load on the engine) there seems to be a slight jerkiness/hesitance to the engine. To explain it better, if it were a petrol engine, you'd suspect a slight HT misfire. It's not very pronounced, although my non-mechanically-minded wife did notice it from the passenger seat and commented without me saying anything. Seems to improve once the truck is up to full running temperature, although it was doing it after a 10 min stop which was after a 20 minute run, ir engine warm but not at full temp.
The gearlever seems to have a lot of slack in it. Very light to use and slots into each gear nicely, but just a lot of free play. Is that normal?
Aside from the well-documented big-end bolt issue, there's not much else to bother me apart from the springs may be a bit slack but I guess they're fairly easy to change, and there's an oil leak on the timing chain cover (I think that's what's under there? Front of the lump?) but again, no big deal.
Anyone got a view on any of that? The seller was open to offers, so I've got scope for fixing anything as long as it's not going to be complete nightmare.
Thanks.
