Looking at maybe getting a used Aygo. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these. I will be doing around 40 miles a day with a mix of city and motorway.
Cheers
have you considered a citroen c1 or peugeot 107, you probably know its the same car built in the same factory by the same people with 90% same parts. the only difference are the front headlights, rear lights and quarter panels, chassis, drivetrain and interior are identical. plus out of the 3 the peugeot seems to be the cheaper used buy for some reason. either way all three are good little cars, you have to work the little 1 litre engine hard, but it loves to be reved and they do close to 65 in second! motorway driving can be intimitating for some due to its size, however they'll happily do 90 all day long. dont expect high or even moderate levels of refinement, the ride isnt the best, although better than a fiat500, i work for citroen and the only experiences we have had with regards to reliability are early cars suffer from clutch problems, (most were sorted under warranty and they always went before 10k-wrong adjustment at the factory) five door models sometimes suffer from water leaks around the rear door seals, my advice would be stay away from the diesel and semi auto gearbox, all 3 are good cars, all group 1 insurance, 60+mpg, £20 road tax, and easy to sell when you want to get rid. Cheers
I had one for a weekend long test not long after they came out and they are great little cars.
Living in London it was perfect for whizzing round town, the size of the thing made it great for flinging about and the engine note is great fun considering its only a 1 litre.
I seriously considered buying one until I drove it on the motorway. It was fine, whizzed along at expectable speed but was very noisy, a smidge floaty and had absolutely no guts at anything over 40mph. I surely wouldn't want to be doing 20-30k a year in one...
Whats the reasoning for the choice of Aygo or something a bit bigger?

no guts over 40? ive never found that to be a problem with them, ive wound one up to over a ton in the past and found then fine on the motorway....but you have to rag themLiving in London it was perfect for whizzing round town, the size of the thing made it great for flinging about and the engine note is great fun considering its only a 1 litre.

my girlfriend has one and its so cheap to run and quite fun around town. I then started using it more on the motorway and the biggest issue was the lack of comfort. Overly firm seats and lots of road noise. Nowehere to rest your elbows when you want to sit back and cruise through the miles.
As I work for Toyota I may be biased, but the Aygo is a great little car. Very Nippy and loads of fun to chuck around.
In terms of the mileage you are doing, it may not be as comfotable as a bigger car but it certainly will hold its own in the fast lane. An Aygo blue has been a recent addition to our family fleet based on its cheap and cheerful nature. If that doesnt convince you maybe this will.

Oh and in case you were thinking that the C1 and 107 were basically the same, you may want to check their standings in the same JD power surveys!!
For me the proof in the pudding is this. Yesterday I took in PX a 60k miles Aygo Black, and the customer was so pleased with it, the only car they considered was another Aygo.

Had a 107 as a Ragaround Courtesy car whilst mine was being repaired and although I found it to be VERY plasticy on the inside, and the speed guage looks horrid, it was actually a very good drive. Maybe not something that I would use as a motorway work-horse but for town driving and A roads it was nippy enough to be able to move lanes easily and was fantastic on the juice.
When I first got it I had no idea what engine was in it and was assuming it was a 1.4 until I looked up the specs on the internet. I know the car weighs nothing but whatever they have done to that little lunch box under the bonnet, it was the right thing! (for a one Litre) it pulls VERY VERY well.
If you have to have new and its the most you can afford then you can't really go wrong with one to be honest.

YES i am thinking the c1 and 107 are the same car because they are the same car. you may have been brainwashed by your marketing department but dont be fooled into thinking the aygo is a higher quality product. jd power is mainly based on aftersales, ie how good your dealer was at sorting out problems etc, the fact is both the c1 and 107 are a much better buy both used and new as they are cheaper, and before you say it yes we (citroen) can and will upgrade you to a 5 year warranty too. either way whichever of the 3 the op goes for he wont be disappointed they are very good little carsIn terms of the mileage you are doing, it may not be as comfotable as a bigger car but it certainly will hold its own in the fast lane. I have just orderd an aygo blue and get it next wed. The deal was good including 5 year warranty and 3 years free servicing. I looked at the c1 and 107 but i cudnt stand having a car with a citroen or pug badge. I no there the same car but there aftersales is awful compared to toyota.
