Have to look over one of these for a friend.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2010...

While I have 10+ years in the trade, I know nothing about them

Does it have a cam belt, when is it due.

Any idea on reliability

Any input gratefully recieved.

The T sport is Toyotas answer to the Civic type R. its got the Celica 189BHP revvy engine, and according to the TV shows and magazines its as good as a type R, just looks incredibly dull, so not as desirable hence the bargain price.
No idea if its belt or chain, but if its belt surely it should have one by that milage.

Edited to add,I think the early ones are belt and changed to chain about 2004 but I am not sure, also they also did a Supercharged 215BHP version just before they stopped making them.

Thats very much. I figured it was a revy litle thing as Auto trader says 189bhp.

I guess I'm gonna have to find out about the belt, as the ones I'm looking at are 2003 ish.

They are good Solid cars, as are all Toyota's, although being a competitor to the CTR it still lacks slightly in many aspects. IIRC they are group 14 insurance, which is cheaper than CTR's group 15? Quite thirsty cars, but is very capable of giving your a grin from ear to ear. The supercharged version was made in limited numbers and are quite sought after. They are quite a lot cheaper than the CTR when buying, and are a lot more subtle. IMO very good buys, and would have one (but insurance is still very expensive for me) had a friend who was selling one because his OH didnt like it after a month of ownership (what a numpty) and he did offer it to me for what dealer offered him (£2900 he bought for £3700) which i had to sadly turn down! frown

they have the same engine as the 190bhp gen 7 celica personally i wouldnt bother with them as so far from what i have seen between 60k-80k the big ends tend to give way and then its just problem after problem after that. id go with the type r pretty damn bullet proof.

Thanks very much for the help guys.

Looked at 2 cars, both were very average paint and body wise but drove very well.

In the end while my mate loved the engine, decided it was "too" understated and now want somthing a bit more flash.

Oh well I tried to get them into a nice reliable jap motor.

Supercharged 215BHP version.
One of the daftest cars i have ever driven. It just looks like a normal Corola Bluerinse Mobile and goes quicker that a Celica 190, the exOH was looking at getting a Corola 190 Tsport, she really liked it and was offered a chance to testdrive a Supercharged version. A pleasantly surprising car with much brisker than expected of acceleration and a good amount of grip considering the amount of bodyroll. Oh, and one saleperson who will never, ever tell a girl that it might be to much power for her and to be careful when pressing on. If only he'd seen how she'd driven my MR2 into the lot he would never have let her loose in it. hehe
