Impreza Insurance at 24

Hi all,
I've been spreading a few insurance related questions around the different forums in the last few months, trying to work out what I can get insured on.
Having landed on Impreza's, and price comparison site returns nothing but "insurer declined to quote", so I have decided its time to ring around.
So are there any recommended insurers to start calling? I'm 24 with 4 years NCB and one non fault claim this time last year, no points.
One other question - which of the various models are more insurance friendly (if any).
Have tried searching but the "searching wheel" just keeps turning and returns no results.

If you want a modified one, try Flux as a bench mark - they'll do you a provisional quote online. Then try and beat them. Greenlight have been pretty competitive for me, although they enjoy making you jump through hoops.
A-Plan are good on quotes but even better IMHO are Keith Michaels Insurance. ask to speak with Gary Moulson at who is a top man and a fellow Scooby owner. I have both my modified scooby and S-Type diesel Jag insured with him.
Don't email him or leave a voicemail because he rarely returns them. The best way is to speak to him directly and he will sort you out with a cracking good quote.

I think 25 makes a big difference. I got insurance last year on my P1 at just under £1k with no NCB and was it my first car. This year it's £750 with mods declared. i'm 24, 5 years ncb and my 2004 wrx is just over £1000 with admiral, i've found them very good
edit to add, they'd insure me on a uk sti for the same price, at the time i bought the car i couldn't run to one though
Ra's in particular will be much worse because they are jap imports, still do-able with a specialist, P1's similar i reckon will be worse then turbo 2000, uk wrx and uk sti's

I use A-plan. Flux were rubbish, and always have been for me. I shop around every year, and rarely stick with the same insurer. I insure my RB5 for under £500, but I am over 30 and have full no-claims. It is completely standard apart from the PPP, which takes some explaining - which is why comparison sites just don't work.

This year he got my modified Scoob down from £500 to £350 - being an oldish git sometimes helps (I'm 45)!

From what I understand the "best" cars from an insurance point of view would be a UK Turbo 2000, RB5 or Terzo? If thats the case, my additional questions are...
Was there a "factory fit" PPP for the UK Turbo 2000, and if so does it give the same power etc as the WR/PPP pack on the RB5/Terzo?
If a RB5 had the PPP, is this a "WR Sports" or are they different things?
Does the PPP on a Terzo give the same as a PPP on a RB5?

As long as it's a UK car you'll attract the best quotes. Why just look at classics when there are well priced newage cars around too. You could pick up a keenly priced std Bugeye WRX and mod it yourself or one with PPP for not a lot. You can pick up a decent bugeye STi for around £7K-7.5K but you need to shop around.
If you only have £3K-£4K to spend then you'll have to go for a classic and it will likely be a 1992-1996 in pretty reasonable condition, and most of those are imports with a few UK examples around. You might find a ropey 97-98car for that sort of money. Decent 99/00 cars are not far off newage prices so although there is some choice around it is all down to how healthy your bank balance is and whether you only like classic shape or newage.
