cruise control not working

Hi , i have been recomended to try this forum by general gassing forum . i have just bought a 3l subaru outback and the cruise control does not work, i have been told to check the brake lights /switch and they all work . apart from getting some diagnostics done by a garage , does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be the problem ? T.I.A

just a quick add on , the interior lights do not come on when the doors open . do they both share a fuse ?

There will also be switches on the brake and clutch pedals to disengage the cruise if you press a pedal.

Check these are adjusted correctly

it is an auto so just the break switch , is it easy to adjust ?

Just check the brake lights work as they should, if they are stuck on thats the problem. Easy enough to adjust if need be but check before getting the spanners out.

And check the fuses too
