my legacy has an oil leak somewhere which is then burning on something snd occasionally turning to smoke in the engine bay. any idea where this leak may be coming from? there seems to be oil on the n/s driveshaft. is this going to be a big or expensive job?

thanks

Check the rocker gaskets, these often leak.

this is what i have been told is most likely the problem, do you know if they are expensive to fix? and is it worth doing both sides? thanks

Hello

Should be between £100-£200 from a specialist. It is a fiddly job but not difficult.

thanks mark, is it worth doing both sides at the same time?

I'd save my money and just do the one that is leaking, unless you get a really good deal.

Oh and make sure they use OEM parts. Some for the pattern parts are not great and will leak.

Also get the whole kit not just the main gasket

1 x Main Gasket
2 x Plug Gaskets
12 x Bolt Washer Seals
2 x Half Moons
1 x Breather Cover Gasket

subaru near me dont seem to do them as a kit. but anyway it would seem the rocker gaskets are dry so must be a leak elsewhere. any other idea? thanks again.
