Take the battery back out the key fob and clean up the conections. try putting the battery in again.

Is it parked somewhere different to your usual parking space? Are there any obvious masts anywhere? If so push the car forwards or backwards a couple of metres then try the fob again.

I had something similar on a Forester, the standard Sigma alarm was being interfered with (oo er missus), moved it a little forward and bobs your uncle.

Mine would not open if parked near a radio mast. OP are you parked near a police station or phone mast?

Standard alarms are prone to this. Bin it and buy a new one.

my forester is the same if parked by police stations etc....

If it's like my car there should be a little keypad in the glove box, you can use a code to unimobilise the car. When I first bought my car it was a real pain as I didn't have a code, but there are instructions on the net about how to set a new code.
