Hi all,

Thinking of fiiting a boost guage, wondered what the general opinion of differnent makes? I wanted one to fit nicely in the drivers side column or further forward like this.

The quality ones look good and are more accurate (than say the Tims ones) but then again, you're looking to compare healthy state with dodgy state plus off-boost vs on-boost, so it doesn't matter in the end as long as you can tell the difference at a glance and danger at a glance, if you see what I mean. I've had an AVCR and even a £15 Tims one. In the end, they both do the job if all you want to do is monitor for problems.

The Stack ones look good and seem to be well made- I bought one when I wasn't sure whether to trust my standard gauge (it turned out to just be a bit of a leak, so the Stack is as yet unfitted).

I went for a mechanical gauge as the standard one is electronic with a sensor and I wanted to remove the possibility that it was a sensor fault; something that might be worth considering if you're a worrier like me!

Yes i think i'm a worrier too, think it's not full boosting when it probably is?

Yeah, that's the one! smile
You might want to consider a mechanical gauge then, although you need to run a thin tube rather than a wire from the engne bay (and a separate wire is still required for lighting the gauge). You get a T-Piece with the gauge, so you can take a feed off one of the tubes from the inlet manifold (such as the one going to the wastegate actuator) and you'll know that's exactly what's going into the engine.

This is all if you dont want to do a similar thing but with an electronic sensor of course!

stack and spa guages are what i would have if i had bottomless pits of money, avoid defi's like the plague, very expensive and not very accurate, best for price and accuracy are prosport, based in singapore, but very well priced and very reliable, i use them on my scoob.
