I organised a meet for these underated cars and thought a few of you may enjoy afew pics.

The 2.0i coupes all years represented

The 4wd rally homolgation models

The topless section

we had 18 cars in total, Next year I am hoping for 25.

These cars are a great 80s classic bargain in my opinion, great handling and build quality, and decently nippy still.
yes they rust, but there are plenty of good one out there for £5-600 or less.

Thanks for looking.

Great to see enthusiasts still looking after these.
Has anyone in the UK got a Rev 3 (Gen6) 3SGTE'd gen4?

yeah there are a couple out their. I know of one plan to build up a gen 4 with a rev 4 engine out of the st215 too

The Red ST165 with the white wheels runs a rev 2 engine with 377bhp still with a CT26 too

I have kept my engine rev 1, just to be awkward, plus there are some benifits to,

I can use cheap big injectors, ST162 cams drop in for a mild improvement, plus they are very cheap to buy. I got a running spare lump for £100, which is the basis of a forged build for mine.

Glad you like the pics

Hello,

I have just been reading all about your car on the Readers' cars topic.

I love your car!

I love the Gen 4 Celica as it was my first car (ST162) and I still think they are one of the best looking cars ever made smile.

I would love another one some time but can't find them for sale anywhere frown. I agree with you completely that they are underrated classic cars (more so the 165 I think?).

It's great to see there is a passion for them and that people are keeping them in the condition they deserve to be in smile.

Where can you get these then? ST182's are plentiful (and very good cars) but the looks of the ST162/5 just do it for me smile.

Regards

Duncan

Hi Duncan,

Cheers for the comments re the show and car.

My co conspirator Steve owns the showroom condition 162 next to mine with the reg VAC.

You can pick up good cars needing a bit of tlc for £500 - 600, they tend to crop up on the classic sites and sadly also ebay, ( sometimes you can get a bargain too, mate of mine paid £360 for a white auto worth £900 all day long.)

I have fun in my GT4, It was second overall at the GT4oc, beating much quicker and bigger bhp cars round two tracks and up the strip.

I love these cars, build quality is second to none and looks I think have now aged very well.

plus I love pop up lights!

next show planned for the spring hope we can get more than 25 cars then! you are very welcome to come along

Thank you, yeah I love my wheels, even if they are a bit heavy.

Guys do keep you eyes peeled for these cars because they are real bargains at present.

The 2wd coupes are great fun to drive, and if you can find one with not too much rust, the mechanics are very tough.
