Evo 6 Or Impreza P1?? Which one to buy?

I was just getting used to having quick cars with my civic vti, Rover coupe Turbo then RX8, when I had to start long haul journeys so bought a Mondeo dis-eisel(Great car actually).
As of next month I no longer need the giant commute and time has come to buy a rapid motor. I am 25 in a couple of months and I can finally insure it. I have always wanted a scooby and I love the newest of the old style(97-2001). I also think the P1 in particular is better looking then the Evo6.
Both cars are very similar performance wise as well as insurance and fuel. Problem is Scooby(P1 in particular) seems to suffer from reliability issues and we are talking 10 year old cars here. Evo6 needs crazy servicing though every 4.5k miles.
Which one must I own before I get too old to enjoy a fast car?

The P1 was a brilliant marketing ploy, but was essentially a Jap STi5 in a nice blue 2 door shell. The running gear was identical to the STI and the main (UK Friendly) things they did was to make the knock sensitivity better to cope with our fuel, and put different springs on the shocks to cope for our roads. Don't let anyone tell you anything else (I have seen the ECU Maps).
The EVO6 was not really changed much from the JDM configuration, except for some ecu fettling and a rear foglight. So very much a JDM-esque car.
Driving wise, the EVO will be easier to drive fast in GSR guise as it has an ECU controlled rear diff that makes an average driver good, and a good driver exceptional (Once you get the confidence to trust it). The P1 however, will feel faster, but will be maginally slower in standard guise.
That said both cars make gains from simple tuning.
Most people say that the Scooby is easier to live with but if you only want a fun car?
Styling wise, the scooby will age better and as they are rarer, will depreciate less over time. The EVO is almost 80's in its styling.
Personally I have been a member of the Lancer register longer that I have been a member of the SIDC, but I have owned 3 very special modded scoobies and no Evos. I just chose Scoobs each time I did a round of test drives.
My advice. drive both, but choose a range of different roads/surfaces to base your opinions on.

They certainly aint that hard to beat. Even when they have more (claimed) power.I live in B-road county and will only be commuting 10 miles to work, so the car is aimed at me having fun and enjoying driving again.

There's your answer. That's the reason I would use for buying a P1. Not heard of any reliability issues. Perhaps this is only once you let someone in the back of their shed take a spanner to it and give it 50000000000000000bhp?Oh, yes, and they sound meaty.

no experience of either but I used to live near Banbury and used the local roads for biking. My only lasting memory of a p1 was it overtaking me on a near 180 degree hairpin outside of oxford and leaving me for dead. At the time I was on my blade and even wringing it out the car was just phenominally quick.
