Toyota Celica GT4 ST185

Hi All
I just bought a Toyota GT4 1991 model which has a rattly bottom end, so will need an engine swop while I fix the original.
Does anyone have an engine for sale at a reasonable price please, or know anyone who deals in these?
Also, need a rear tailgate in grey, or just the glass?

Take the opportunity to drop in a later model ST205 engine with more power, no MAF and a chargecooler as standard

It is a good idea to put the money towards a ST205 Engine.... those engines are much more torquier and give you a much better feel for what a GT4 should be about.

I used to own a ST185 and then a ST205....and the difference between the two is huge.
The ST185 even with a turbo feels no more powerful than a modern(ish) day 1.8L petrol with no turbo....and over time the ST185 engines do loose a LOT of bhp.

I think if you look in the right place you can get away with putting the st185 RC engine it comes standard with the charge cooler its 235 standard BHP it a import version of a uk carlos sainz models which is 205 BHP the import version has got a lot of torque good strength in the engine with a little doing to the ecu and some filters disconnect the ac pulley unit it will fly it holds the road better then the st205 I have both of them the st 205 has its own drive which is quick as well but I prefer the RC its better around corners I will try to find some numbers for you for the right place to get the engine or the complete car damaged that way you can change the discs callipers and the shocks which are more bigger then the standard gt4 you would need to change the bonnet as well because its similar induction duck to the st205 and use the import ecu to go with the engine I must admit the standard gt4 are really sluggish . I had some one test drive mine because he has the same RC model and he says why is yours quicker then mine I hadn’t upgraded the engine then it was just standard 235BHP at the time the first thing I asked him what are you feeding it and he says unleaded. I say to him there’s your problem it makes a big difference with the right fuel and better fuel economy. I will get back to you on this am in the salvage trade so should be able to help.

Talking of Carlos Sainzes, mine's been up for sale for weeks now with very little interest out there. Am I right in thinking this is not a good time to be trying to sell a car?!

Well, not a leisure/performance type of car.

Small economy cars will be on the rise but big luxury or performance machines will generally be on the decrease in terms of sales figures both new and 2nd hand.
