I still don't understand how things can get so bad so fast...

It has been suggested that consolidation is the way forward. We may see a handful of companies in the future. Toyota could swallow Subaru, Daihatsu and others. Leaving Nissan and Honda to scoop up rest.

Toyota already hold a 51% stake in Daihatsu, and daihatsu manufacture a number of models sold worldwide under the Toyota brand.

Do you think that Toyota would make a bid for Fuji Heavy Industries, or just absorb the Subaru related operations?

ETA: seems Toyota also own 16% of FHI already.
