Might sound daft but where in the exhaust should the Lambda sensor be? All running problems point to the sensor needing replacing but I can't find it although I have managed to buy a new one.

Any help much appreciated

On my Corolla it's in the downpipe between the manifold and the cat- at the cat end. It's in the side of the pipe

Cheers I'll take a look.

Forgott to mention it's a 1997 facelift model if that makes any differance.

I'm amazed a 1997 car has a 4A engine in it, despite how advanced it was when it was designed in the early 80s...

I wouldn't be, my 20v 'blacktop' 4age has one. Currently it's in a box awaiting fixture to my aw11 downpipe. All I can confirm is it fits after the manifold.
