New wheels...

I fancy buying some new alloys for my new purchase. Its a corolla t sport with the standard 6J X 16". I think the PCD is 4x100 and Offset is ET45.

I want to keep a JDM theme and don't want any halfords specials.

From what I have seen so far not many JDM style wheels come in that size. I'm assuming the pcd & offset must be the same???


Budget is around 1k inc tyres.

I'm looking at 17" with a polished lip though some suggestions with photoshops(if you can be bothered) and any other advice would be helpful.

there is an ebay seller called tegiwaonline who does loads of JDM wheels in that PCD, mainly for FWD cars. not used him (I'm looking for RWD staggered rims on a different offset!) but he gets interesting stock fairly regularly.

I imported my own alloys, some wedsports, from Yahoo Japan via a company called Rinkya (www.rinkya.com). Yahoo Japan is basically Japans equivalent to ebay.

I had my Prelude de-limited at Tegiwa, and i'm sure if you speak to Johnny or Luke they could source you a set of JDM alloys, though you would be paying a premium for someone else to do it for you.

Rarerims stock Rota alloys, which manufacture copies of well known JDM alloys. That's not to say they aren't any good. There light and well made. But for upto 1k you can definately get genuine ones, so i'd do that.

You can vary offset a bit with no significantly bad side effects, wheels will either sit a little further out (lower offset) or further in (higher offset). The 4x100 stud pattern and similar offsets are also used by the MX5, assorted Hondas and various other Toyotas so you should have plenty of choice.

I was in no rush, so chose the cheapest option, which was via sea. I admit it wasn't THAT cheap, IIRC circa £150, but then I did get an absolute bargain when buying the alloys.

As Rinkya deal in US dollars I also did well as the pound was doing very well at the time!

Nice rims. £150 isnt too bad, much less than I expected.

I recently paid £75 shipping on an ARC Airbox for my MR2, but then the exchange rate is total crap at the moment.
