Undeserved reputation for reliability and fuel use does that. Wish they were that cheap in my part of the world!
The main issues with reliablity on the 8 seem to be related to the coil pack a lot of the time. If you drive it like you ought to ( ringing the bell a lot and generaly giving it the berries to get to where most of the power is) then you'll be lucky to see 23 MPG. You can argue that the engine in the 8 is only a 1.3 ltr and that 23 MPG is crap for a 1.3 ltr engine but the renesis engine was actualy entered in a +2.5 ltr category when it was entered in an awards competition so it's not really that bad.Lucky to see 23mpg? Ha...I worked it out, had mine 7 weeks now, the highest MPG I have got from my 231ps was 17mpg
Great car but TERRIBLE on fuel. SO fun to drive though so I love it and would definitely reccomend it. Get an AEM CAI and/or borla exhaust and the sound is amazing along with a bit more responsiveness

Yep LSD standard on all UK cars, yes MPG isnt great, and due to the RX7 people are scared of them and assume they need a rebuild every 50k (they dont). On the RX8 OC forum there is currently a list of failures...approx 25 car out of 3700 active users who have had engine failures...not alot...and most of these appear to have been replaced FOC by Mazda or a substantial good will in many cases.
The coil pack can fail and sometimes resulting in destroying the cat...£1kish from Mazda or £500 for a sports cat

Yeah UK cars all have LDS (slightly milder one than the RX7).
Truly cracking cars if you can stand watching the fuel guage drop. And its the only car I've ever had where thats actualy visibly true...
You can baby it for much better fuel consumption but why buy the thing in the first place then?
