Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

Hi.
After working on my current car, I decided I want to get rid and get a good car that I can work on for years, and decided on the R34 GTR. However, whilst I know tons about R34s, I have a couple of questions:
1. Can anyone tell me the best way of getting hold of a good R34 (i.e low mileage, service history, factory spec etc)? This is a pain in the ass for me so far because there are a lot of t
ts out there advertising lesser models of Skyline as R34s, then explaining that they're 'just as good as', 'lookalike', or modified with bits and pieces taken from the R34 GTR (e.g. bodywork etc) and so on. The classifieds are full of R34 wannabes trying to sell their cars using the R34 name because at the end of the day it's the R34 that all Skyline hunters want.
2. Can anyone offer any advice about them? I'm going to spend a long time looking for a well looked-after example because these are highly coveted cars used as playthings. What should I look out for in particular when buying one, and what are the main problems the R34 tends to face once I actually have one? As I understand the R34 tends to be a solid car with the only real issue being low mileage capabilities (engines need reconditioning after 70,000 miles or so). Anyone know any better?
If you're going to reply with "get an R33, they're just as good, blah blah blah", save it. I don't go through cars like bogroll, and if it's my own money and if it's going to be a car i'm going to keep for a while, I can afford to be picky. I'm not going to be a tt who settles for a wannabe model and then spend the rest of my time justifying why it's better than the R34. It's not. End of.
Also, if you're selling an R34, even if it needs some TLC let me know - my family run a bodyshop so depending on how much TLC it needs, all reasonable offers will be considered.

Identt: You'd be surprised. Autotrader and other online car markets are full of ads where they tag their lesser models as R34 GTR etc.
Gazboy: Cheers, i'll look into it. I also plan on looking at a big compound in Keighley (somewhere near Leeds) as they have virtually millions of Nissans, including skylines. I'll be damned if there's not at least one R34 amongst their huuuuge collection of cars.

Keighley Trade Centre ? Tread very very carefully, have a google search and you will find plenty posts about their cars, some are sGazboy: Cheers, i'll look into it. te, good ones are scarce, just be careful !My shout would be have a look on the owners forum, there are some very nice well looked after cars on it. It's where i looked when looking for an R33.

te, good ones are scarce, just be careful !My shout would be have a look on the owners forum, there are some very nice well looked after cars on it. It's where i looked when looking for an R33.

There are clearly buyers who still don't have internet access because I have never, ever heard mention of them on a forum without an associated tale of woe or horror.te, good ones are scarce, just be careful !They have interesting-sounding stock and what appear to be good prices, but ...
At the moment I'd be looking for a car already in the UK, given the exchange rates. Decent cars fetch decent money in Japan, so there's a reason that a fresh import is cheap.

They had a GTO i liked the look of on their website, when i saw it in the flesh it was a shed.
Dent's, scratches that they did'nt show on pic's, the battery was as flat as a f**t, and they could'nt be a***d to jump it off and all for £8000.
Soon walked away.
