Hi there
No it's not an RX7... it's not even an MX5... It's a 1.3 Fiesta Look-a-like...
Does anyone have a personal experience of one of these and would they be able to say whether it's better to get the Tamura (Limited Edition) or the 1.5 Sport?
... or is the Ford a better option even though it's in financial trouble?

Hey, i've just bought a 1.5 sport initial impressions are:
Well kitted out (cruise, climate, auto wipers, auto lights).
Looks good.
Handles reasonably for a FWD.
Bad points:
Fly by wire throttle is hard to judge on move off from stand still.
Clutch is quiet sharp, although hoping this lessons over time.
Brakes lack feeling.
Suited me as i was after a cheap to run, good looking, well kitted out car (had an Impreza WRX previously).
Don't know anything about the special edition, but give me a shout if you want any other info.
PS did look at the Fiesta but couldn't live with the interior.

It's certainly supposed to be cheap to run.
And it's interior is actually better than the Fiestas? How so? From what i'd heard the Fiestas was good... cheap, but good.
One thing we are worried about is that the girlfriend is five foot nothing and i'm over six. Do the seats accomodate botht the tall and short?
We kept meaning to try them out but since the Tamura is a limited edition they didn't have one to test and weren't sure exactly what it would come with.

Nothing wrong with the Fiesta interior, design wise it's just not my cup of tea, in general i prefer Jap cars anyway.It's certainly supposed to be cheap to run.

We kept meaning to try them out but since the Tamura is a limited edition they didn't have one to test and weren't sure exactly what it would come with.Space wise inside there's plenty of room, coped fine with 4 adults, i'm 6ft and have no issues, had a 6ft4 mate as a passenger with no issues. Couldn't say about a 5ft'er but wouldn't imagine it would be a problem. Only thing i would like is more lumbar support as i have a dodgy lower back.
I have noticed that there seems to be a lack of upgrade parts in this country while Japan and OZ are overloaded. I really need to upgrade the discs and pads to get some more feeling in the brakes, they don't inspire much confidence!

The Girlfriend doesn't want upgrades added to the car because that just hikes the Insurance up which is not the reason why we bought the car.
Although like you, I do agree with modifying handling parts, brakes etc. If nothing else for more control.
But... Is the Mazda2's steering electric?
