Hi
Could someone help me please?....
Did Subaru bring out a Type R with a roof vent or was it just the RA?
Thank You.

I think the V-Limited Type-Rs have a roof vent, as well as an RA box 1-4, with a "normal" long 5th gear.

yes

STi Type-R V-ltd had roof scoop (optional perhaps?) as said above, don't think WRX (non STi) Type-R got it though. Not sure if gearbox was the same as STi-RA V-ltd (which had the longer 5th as an option) but it may well have been. RA slightly lighter, not much else between them to decide other than a preference for 2 or 4 doors.

I might have got that wrong about the RVL box then, theres so many subtle differences across the years and models its hard to keep track. wobble

Hell even the guys on the RA forum can get into a muddle over them, a mate of mine had a 2 Door WRX RA, which is basically a 2door WRX, with an STi engine and short box, but no STi lights, no DCCD, no water spray and no high level spoiler. When he posted up on the forum they laid into him telling him it was just a normal WRX despite the model code saying otherwise.

scratchchin

If 2-door it should be a WRX Type-R rather than RA - RA is the light 4-door shell. Never heard of a WRX-RA with the STi engine - short box/no DCCD/waterspray/spoiler is normal for a WRX-RA though. Problem is so much parts swapping goes on in Japan that the bits on an import car may not be the same ones it left the factory with anyway.

Sounds like it could have been cobbled together from an R and an RA then

Yeah, who knows! If you know the chassis code (applied model code) that would help shed some light on it, not that it matters.
