Can i insure an impreza?

Hi all.

Just wondering how prohibitively high insurance is on Impreza's?

I'm 23, live in an average postcode area, 4 years no claims.
1 (4 year old) sp30 and one (last week) claim where someone hit me, all costs recovered from other party.

Been trying to get a few quotes on UK sti's and no-one wants to know?

Anyone in a similar situation got any prices for me to think about?

I'm 43 and still had problems getting insurance as my Scooby is an import which does make a differance the people to try are performace direct they were excellent try online with them first they then ring you back good luck finding insurance for these type of cars can be a pain but well worth it

try Sky, A plan, and admiral.
i know loads of chaps under 23 who can insure them.
they are silly for it though (think 2k plus)

How times have changed. I insured my first Impreza (aged 22) for £998.

It was a UK model classic which I bought just after the bugeye came out, so only group 17 instead of 19 or 20 for the more modern UK models.

Have you considered a WRX rather than an STI?

I'm sure I'll get shot down for this, but isn't the WRX a 'better' (whatever that means!) drive in real road UK conditions?

no, ive had both and sti is head and shoulders above the WRX but a good suggestion for him to get a WRX as there is some diffrence in the quotes

Yes, I've got a 2005 WRX!

Have you driven an STI?
I havnt, but I own a 2001 Bugeye.
I would like to think the STI is better, as these WRX have a fair bit of body roll and are quite wallowy in standard form.

The STI is night and day better than the WRX, IMHO. I do a lot of motorway chews up to Kent and back and I wouldn't fancy living without the 6 speed box in the STI. Also on the twisty roads when i get where I'm going the STI feels much more planted and secure. On the question of insurance, yes the premiums are going to be slightly higher than most people expect. I did find a quote for my MY05 STI, third party only, from the post office, for 25 quid. I wouldn't personaly ever go for TPO insurance on this car, but if it's only a weekend toy and you keep it locked up good and proper when not using it it might be worth a go.

I'm 23, two years NCB, 1 SP30 4 years ago and two accidents within days of each other 2 years ago, one my fault, one 100~% 3rd party fault.

I'm driving a 1999 UK Turbo Wagon, with exhaust and filter as declared mods, insured though bell for just under £1k. If memory serves newage UK Sti quotes came up around £1400.

Just keep ringing round mate. I was 25 when i got my impreza and had quotes up to £4500 Eventually got it down to £480 Some insurance companies here the words Impreza and Import and just think of a 4 figure number.
