Take your MY02 WRX and strip it right down to include all internal sound proofing (will need some proper scraping here and there). Remove things like the air condition pump (you'll need a shorter belt) and heater/aircon matrix, center console, glove box, etc etc... Stick a cage and harness in it and off you go. Then when you've taken it on one track day you know what needs to be done thereafter.
To do it properly (as i will be doing to my sportwagon when i retire it) strip it, acid dip, seam weld the whole shell, fix all dents and fill any tiny dents you can't hammer out perfectly with brazing and cage it. Thereafter, Widebody modified carbon fibre/fibreglass wings and bonnet or a one piece fibreglass or carbon fibre flip front, same with the rear quarter panels, carbon fibre doors and bootlid and then full respray. Plexiglass all round. Once you have the body as light as it can be then look at lightwewight steering, suspension/bushes mods, wheels etc etc...then engine. Many thousands upon thousands of pounds later you have a trackday car worthy of entering any competiton or trackday you like and it will be mighty quick, however......save yourself a shed load of money and hassle by doing everything a stage at a time for your personal requirements.
If it's just for having fun you don't have to spend a fortune. If it's for serious business.....how deep are your pockets!!

Im going to do a couple of track days just how it is and see what needs doing to it i already know it needs one new wheel but will probs just but 4 second hand ones if anyone has got any has to be either 16 of 17 inch and needs a new rear strut then after that will strip it all out add new bucket seats,cage etc

I've got 4 MY02 17" WRX Wheels. One is badly damaged and the others have just sorface scratching and some kerb damage but only superficial so the other 3 wheels are still very serviceable.Just stick to newage gear and you'll find it always fits. There are lots of differences between newage and classic scoobs, certainly in the brakes and suspension department. Different struts and hubs, drive shafts etc etc...
Buy newage kit for a guaranteed fit. Equally some newage STi bits will transfer over to newage WRX like the STi 6spd box, propshaft and gear linkage and diffs, however for suspension you're better off buying new. A set of adjustable coilovers don't cost the earth and will last.
With brakes either get some new upgrade calipers, discs and pads front and rear for the same price as 2nd hand Brembo calipers and discs.
When it comes to going around corners and stopping quickly there's no substitue for decent new kit.
