Subaru legacy Outback Yaw Sensor price

"VDC off" and "Check Engine" warning lights keep coming on, took it to Subaru delership for investigation.

Knock sensor required, ok £75.60 & VAT, bit pricey but what you would expect, other part required was a new VDC stability control yaw sensor assembly Subaru price £2381.45

Needless to say I will be fitting the knock sensor and just ignoring the VDC warning light from now on!

According to the bloke in the service dept the Yaw sensor is actually some kind of gyroscope, sounds ridiculous bit of over engineering to me, or is this quite a common way for metering when traction control should cut in?

Never realised that VDC was so complex and expensive I've seen a few Legacy's with this or the bilstien shocks in the GTB I guess if i do buy one I'll now avoid the VDC models!

If you actually need stability control in a Subaru you probably need driving lessons more urgently anyway

What year is the car? You can probably pick up a spare unit from a breakers IF that is what is wrong with it, though I somehow doubt it.

PS: I always thought they were 3 way motion sensors at a few quid each!

Cheeky bugger! however that's just it, really don't need it! The car has such a nice low centre of gravity for an estate car anyway that it corner very nicely. When the stability control used to work it was crap, in mid corner at at anything more that snails pace it would start applying the brakes, which was quite disconcerting.
