Just got my new Celica :-)
Discussion
Picked it up yesterday. It's not a massive performance boost on my previous car with only 140BHP but I'm stepping up the ladder slowly.
The list price was £7495 but I managed to get him down to £7 with a new MOT and 1yr TAX. Just when I was about to pay the final amount I squeezed a tank of petrol out of them too (they gave me petrol instead of the money though!!). The car comes with 3 months warranty and I can go to any garage, so hopefully any nasty suprises will show up sooner rather than later.
Thanks to the knowlegable people of this site I was prepared for a few of the downsides to the celica. The only ones that I have seen this far are:
-> Brake Calipers are a little rusty (going to paint them for protection)
-> Brakes are a little spongey but work well never-the-less
-> Gear changing can be a bit irritating. The gears are quite close and the reverse, rather than be push down, pull up or in the 6th position its actually in first gear's position. It requires a forceful push to get it into reverse so it cant be accidentally put into reverse but it does make getting into 1st tricky... sorry about the poor explanation its quite a tricky thing to describe!
The only gripe I have is that the car is due a service (which I missed the first time I looked), it requires a full service too. I'm a bit annoyed because the previous owner kept up a full dealer service up until last year so I'm one stamp off being full... minor detail but annoying none-the-less!

That's some pretty good bargaining you managed to get there £7488 off the price.
