Please be gentle with me as this is my first visit to the 'Japanese Cars' section on here
After a few years of not racing, one of my old sponsors has been in contact and has offered me a drive next year in an MR2 mk1. As part of the deal I have agreed to help him strip the car and help with the build - the problem is that I used to race a Peugeot 205 and know nothing about MR2's
He already races one but it was built for him and he will be using this project to help with his understanding of the car
I am sure I will have many questions, but if I may, can I ask my first here!
I believe that the MR2 suspension can be rebuilt quite easily is that correct or am I wrong. We where thinking of going for a straight swap with Koni's/Bilsteins but everywhere I have looked have recommended KYB inserts
Also, can you recommend a decent supplier of MR2 parts, as I don’t know where to start, or who is a reputable supplier or not

I guess it can depend on the regulations that you run within. Which championship do you intend to run in?
All I can comment on is the rebuildable KYB shocks. I combined these with Fensport lowering springs, and the handling was nothing short of amazing, once fully setup! Only car I have driven since I can compare to was an Elise, handled like it was on rails.
For most MR2 parts I use www.camskill.co.uk, usually very good prices, with fast delivery.
Hope that helps
