Hello,

I am considering buying an older 8 series but am a little lost on the various models.

I am looking to spend around £10k - £12k on one for my wife to use.

Does anyone have any experience with them? I am interested in the usual,which one is the best version, reliability, running costs, general driving thoughts etc etc.

Any feedback would be great.

There was a buying guide for one of the 8-series in Evo a couple of months ago. Try getting a back issue of the one with the 1 series group test (Ferrari 550 LM on the cover)

840/850i are much the same, 850csi is basically an M8!

Expect to pay 30% more for an equivalent csi over the over two!

And expect large bills!

Make sure you get one with a BMW extended warranty as the bills can be quite astonishing!

My mate has an 850csi with BMW warranty and had over £14k from it last year alone!

Get an 850i. Alluseal rather than nikaseal block. And the way the car was originally designed to be before it was stamped on by Europe.
