2005 E90 Recall Notice
Discussion
I got one through the post today for the driver's airbag.
But it seems it may only affect cars that have had a change of steering wheel, but I need to post photos of the VIN and the steering wheel on a BMW website to find out if it needs a recall.
Just thought it may be useful for other E9* 3 Series owners to know.

Yep, same, my 2005 car has a retrofit M sport wheel (from an LCI with shift paddles). Took photos, uploaded to the link and had a response within the hour that I need to book it in.
Amusingly there’s a strong suggestion not to drive the car - given the potential for fatality in an accident, and I know there’s a do not drive notice for the same cars in the USA.
I gather the original SE wheel doesn’t have an affected Takata airbag.
I’m tempted to pop the airbag out and unplug it for now, yes I’ll get a code, but at least I wouldn’t have my face blown off with shards of metal if deployed.

I have an M-sport steering wheel (fitted by last owner) on my SE. What's the issue?
Takata airbag recall affecting m-sport steering wheels apparently - you will likely receive a letter or ookup your VIN here: https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quick-links/bmw-ve...Might be worth contacting BMW seems yours was fitted aftermarket if you like.
