Anybody else received a letter about a Starter Motor Recall ?

BMW "strongly advising parking the vehicle outside and not in the vicinity of buildings"

Danger of the car catching fire even when parked up with the ignition off

Best bit - they dont have parts available and will be in touch in due course !

Nope, what models and years are affected?

It looks like it is for cars with the B48 engine as a few G29 Z4 owners have had it for their 20i and 30i models built between 2019 and 2022.

So it probably affects the 230i, 330i, 430i, 530i, X3, X4 and Toyota Supra too.

Easiest way to be sure is to check on the DVLA website.

FB groups were all getting recalls for 520d's so i suspect its going to be lots of models.

G31 525D had the notice. Not much of a worry to me it lives outside and the likelyhood of fire must be pretty low, the worry is fail to start when you need it to.

So it looks like it's a bigger problem than I thought. I only knew about it because I had seen it on a Z4 forum, but none of them are diesel!

I found out last week before the letter came as I was booked in for something else. They said they couldn’t see my car and not carry out the recall, so I had the change early. Needed the car for the day. This was a 2019 520d

Booked mine in, for today, when I got the recall letter. Dropped it off just before 1000, picked it up at 1300. All painless.
