E90 Low mileage tyre recommendations
Discussion
My wife's old E90 currently has Michelin Primacy 205/55 tyres, which are not run flats. She's does very low mileage (approx 3000 a year, comprised of 40-ish mile trips). The current set are starting to perish on the sidewalls - so I'd like to replace all four for safety.
I'm considering swapping them back out for run flats just for peace-of-mind, but may have forgotten how harsh the ride was given the crappy roads nowadays...
Any recommendations for decent, but reasonable cost tyres, given the low mileage they'll end up perishing long before the tread depth is used up?

Falken FK520s, Uniroyal RainSport 5s, Hankook Ventus Evo 3s, Goodyear Eagle F1s would be good choices
If you want all weathers and peace of mind for over winters etc; then Goodyerar Vector Gen3 4Season or Michelin CrossClimate 2s or 3s for all season tyres
Check Camskill for best prices; get them delivered and fitted locally - but check Asda Tyres and Halfords / National Tyres for their current offers too
Personally I'd still stay away from RFTs - they have got better, but they can still make the rider harsher and noisier

I agreeBut if you're running 16 inch wheels or even 15 inch they will have less harshness.
But I'm not sure modern RFT are being produced in these older sizes. Most modern tyres seem to be 18 inch and bigger.

Those listed would be my among my choices. I have recently replaced my runflats with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 HRS runflats, and am pleased with their comfort level. I did contemplate non runflats, but I am pleased I chose these Hankooks. If you want all weathers and peace of mind for over winters etc; then Goodyerar Vector Gen3 4Season or Michelin CrossClimate 2s or 3s for all season tyres

I have the Falken's on my Z4 they are ace
On the ones I use all year road I have the Goodyear Vector 4seasons gen 3 which again is highly recommend particularly if you're in the north west where it's always cold and damp
This is why we've stuck with them on the F31 - more so as it's the wife's daily and she has to commute to Darwen 2-3 times a week etc; and like this week; there's been some serious downpours and a lot of hail. The M65 was white right across the other night! On the ones I use all year road I have the Goodyear Vector 4seasons gen 3 which again is highly recommend particularly if you're in the north west where it's always cold and damp
Plus they're great tyres; even in the hot weather they grip really well and don't go 'soggy' like dedicated winter tyres can

Yep it's May and we had sleet and hail this week! Plus they're great tyres; even in the hot weather they grip really well and don't go 'soggy' like dedicated winter tyres can
They are ace and wear really well and maybe not as "pin sharp" as maybe a UHP summer they are very predictable
Good value as well, just put four on the X3 and they were nearly £100 less than the Michelin x climate each

Think he's learned now after all these years that summer tyres, even on xDrive, in the Highlands at winter are of no use at all
He's got fed up of me in my old BMWs leaving him in various car parks (Cairngorms, Braemar etc)

Exactly what my Dad will be doing when his X3 needs tyres; which will be quite soon

Full winters but having used the all seasons all year round for couple of years through all weathers including snow on the Mini Countryman, I found they can deal quite capably with everything including snow
So when my summers needed replacing on the X3 I went with the all season, though I still have a set of full winters in the garage, albeit part warm
As I say even this last week or two it's been down to almost freezing in the mornings
