ZF Gearbox Service Southampton
Discussion
Thanks. I’ve used Iridium for servicing, would prefer a gearbox specialist.
Has anyone used these

Have you looked on the ZF partner finder map for your local ZF centre?

You don't need a gearbox specialist. A 5 year old could do it blindfolded.
Can you do a 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox fluid change blindfolded? If so, please give us a bullet-point list that takes less than 5 minutes (braille would help as we'll be blindfolded).
Here's ZF's own service document for a 8HP gearbox...

...and an older version with a flow-chart to follow...

...and here's a bit more technical info if you're thinking of stripping it down yourself...

It is pretty simple really. There's a lot more autos about than there used to be, and most garages can cope.
It needs a ZF service kit, which comes in a big box with all the parts and fluid required. You can buy kits from Meyle, Febi etc. too, but the savings usually aren't that much if you shop around.
Paraphrasing,
Drain it, remove the oil pan.
Fit the new oil pan.
Fit the new connector sleeve.
Refill it until fluid dribbles out.
Plug in scan tool to watch gearbox temperature.
Start car.
Get gearbox warm.
Shift through gears.
Top the oil up until fluid dribbles out.
It's only slightly more complex than an engine oil change in reality.

Any recommendations for an oil change. Thanks
Hello Craig, hope you're well. I got the DCT fluid in my M3 changed at RBM in Hook, just north of Basingstoke, in fact I've used them several times and really rate them. They're roughly an hour away and have courtesy cars. I think they charged £600 for the DCT work.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
