Hopefully this silliness is restricted to markets such as the US, but just when you thought BMW had turned the corner from their last few gopping design decisions, they foist in-dash advertising as a "special surprise to its drivers".

Luckily my BMW is 12 years old, so too old for this junk to be OTA'd to it, but if it did happen - the next drive would be going to chop it in!

I am alright Jack

My friend in Singapore has the m50 and sent me a video WhatsApp of the new Spider-Man film being advertised in his car before he could drive it

That'd be enough for me to never buy another BMW.

Once you've bought a car, a manufacturer should have no right to intrude into it.

My 2021 7 series used to give me a Christmas card animation, so I guess this is just another step and they now want to send you an animation "brought to you by" soon to be followed by "your car will start after these important messages from our sponsors" hehe

I agree but if BMW take this route you can bet that other manufacturers will follow suite.

I remember my 21 plate M135i used to have the button for auto headlights (which i didn't have). Instead of just not working it would flash up on the screen that 'For just £2.99 a month' i could enable the service.

Subscription, for a function, that's already installed on a car i've just paid £33k for?! no thank you!

Was there a way of turning off those notifications? That’d have driven me crazy.

Having just got an advisory free MoT (admittedly after a fail) I will stick to my 31 year old E34

F series LCIs are age the sweet spot imo. New enough to have a few luxuries still relevant and useful today, but old enough to still have knobs, buttons and the fantastically clear and simple BMW analogue gauges. And they don't need a laptop to disengage the parking brake to do a brake service, ffs.
