Hi,I have recently gone from the older F10 520d SE auto to the later Mild Hybrid version, not impressed!...Out of the 3 driving modes the default Comfort mode to me is the only driveable mode,in Sport it manically over revs!...But even in Comfort mode the around town/in traffic mode is very lumpy.Aside from the dreaded stop/start(Sorry I'm not technical, but I understand this could be coded out) the auto gearchange is not smooth and braking is erratic and snatchy compared to the old F10.This MHT system in the 520 generally is regarded as amongst the best there is,just wondering if anyone has had a similar
experience,is it worth getting it checked out for Firmware/Software updates or are they just like that??

Take it to your local dealer and get it checked it shouldn't be like that, ZF8 and MHT offer a really smooth experience, I used to configure the settings to have a sharper throttle but comfort gearbox have you tried that?

Hi,ok,thanks for that.I did actually configure the Sport Individual settings for all Comfort options and it made no difference. As a last resort I have reset it back to standard Sport settings and then repeated the above and strangely it is much better, and drives very similar to my previous F10...Fingers crossed 🤞😁

I have a G31 530d with MHT, but the start stop coded out. It's extremely smooth and seamless, even more so than my older G31 530d without MHT. Certainly unusual if it's lumpy or overrevving, should definitely be completely smooth.

Somethings not right. I had a couple of 520d F10s and then a G30. The G30 was far superior in all respects. Most noticable was how smooth and refined it was. What always impressed me was how it used the torque of the engine when accelerating moderately rather than over revving. You don't want that in a diesel 4 pot.

I had in mind that maybe your car had adapted and "remembered" the previous owners driving style. Apparently it doesn't but you can force an adaption reset. Worth a go.

How to Reset the adaptation memory manually:
  • Turn the ignition on (engine off).
  • Press the throttle pedal all the way down past the kick-down click.Hold it for 30 seconds.
  • Turn the ignition off, release the pedal, and start the car.
Is the car accelerating proportionaly with the over revving? If not, it could be internal clutch wear (even as an auto it's a thing!).

Let us know how you get on.
