X3 M40i G01 Interior Trim Question
Discussion
Hi - new to the forum and would welcome feedback from any X3 M40i owners…. So I very recently traded my lovely 430i for a very late model G01 X3 M40i - which I absolutely love. However, it has spent quite a bit of time back at the dealers having a little tapping noise located and fixed (story for another post). As part of this work various bits of interior trim have been removed / replaced. Yesterday I noticed that in the rear nearside footwell the end of the front passenger seat rails are exposed and look like the could do some damage to an unprotected foot or some nice shoes. The driver seat rails in the offside rear footwell have plastic coverings. The dealer says the exposed ones are normal and nothing is missing - looks odd to me - welcome any views from other owners.
That sounds off to me. Both front seat rails should have the plastic end caps fitted from factory - they're there for exactly the reason you said, protecting feet and shoes. If the driver's side has them and the passenger side doesn't, something's been left off when the trim was refitted. I'd push back on the dealer and ask them to compare against another X3 M40i on the lot - that usually settles it quickly.
