Hi guys, i have been doing a few jobs on my sons BMW Z4 I replaced a split expansion tank, new pads all round and a new rocker gasket.
Once i completed all the jobs and bled the cooling system i left it running waiting for the rad fan to kick in, which it didn't. Car temp was fine no over heating problems. Searched the internet and checked the green wire on the fan switch and it was fine, no corrosion. Then tried the method of turning on the AC which apparently makes the rad fan work ? Unsure if this is correct or not ? Anyway the air-con switch does not work, led light does not come on. neither does the heated screen and the fan blower is just about on, no real power. Again googled and it seems the car may be in 'transport mode" as my son had a flat battery, swapped for a new one a few weeks back and this can create this problem. How do i get it out of 'transport mode"

Transport Mode is supposed to be deleted during the PDI, but quite often it just gets turned off so if the battery gets too low the car goes into it.

You need BMW diagnostic equipment or possibly something like INPA or ISTA I think. If you get it deleted it won't happen again!

I have access to a Snap-On Solus tm+ diagnostic tool. Can this be used to remove the Transport mode on my sons Z4 ?

Sorry I don't know. I only have a Creator that can read and clear some fault codes, but not Transport Mode.

It might be worth asking the same question on z4forum.com

Thank you, Alex that is a very kind offer. We had a go with the snap-on solus but it did not have the software to remove it.

I have had it in at David Paul [independent BMW ]in Warrington today.

It was as expected there were certain items in transport mode so they did a full scan and went through everything.

All sorted now, everything working. smokin2
