Hi All,

Just curious if anyone here has had their 742M wheels refinished in a silver (or silver-ish) finish. I ordered my X5 with the black 22" 742Ms since the only other OEM choices were diamond cut, and after dealing with diamond cut wheels in the past, that’s a finish I’ll never voluntarily choose again.

Problem is… I’m not a huge fan of gloss black wheels either. So I’ve been wondering how these would look in a straight silver or maybe a silver chrome finish.

I’ve been digging through BMW forums and can’t seem to find any examples. The only ones I have come across are the diamond cut versions being powdercoated black, which is the exact opposite of what I’m looking for.

If anyone has gone silver on the 742Ms (or has pics), would love to see them!

Also, before anyone says, yes I picked a colour which looks like BMW have left the car in primer...

I reckon they'd look great done in a satin titanium finish rather than a bright silver or chrome-silver finish....??

Think they'd look superb in ferric grey, or a bright silver like platinum

They both look really good! Only worry is a lot of the accents on the car are black, but hopefully wouldn't look that strange!

That's great, thank you.

I think it may be too dark and appear like the gloss black though, hmm!

I'm not convinced that's worked fully, the wheel looks a bit off, but gives you the idea of what it may look like in Silver.

For me, the body colour is too close to the wheel colour, and then the red calipers showing. The colours should all blend or transform smoothly. To me they jar a bit too much.

Agree, best thing would be to visit the local wheel refurbishment place, and use the colour swatches.

Shadow chrome might work, or a lighter version with an anthracite base rather than over black.

I think a titanium or ferric grey will look best with that colour. My favourite are silver wheels, but they don't seem to go with that colour for me.

Shadow chrome for me, like my old one
