Evening all.

Looking at trading in the M140i for a 340 touring second child almost here now. Found a 2023 plate with 20k miles Brooklyn grey includes

M sport pro pack
Technology plus pack
Parking assistant plus
Uprated sound system.
Live cockpit pro / heads up

It s missing the comfort pack and sunroof I m not overly fussed about a sunroof but do people find the comfort pack a must have? It is priced at 47k which does it seem a bit steep or average price?

Thanks.

Comfort pack isn't a must-have. It’s nice for the electric seats with memory if you share the car, but not a dealbreaker if the car is otherwise spot on.
£47k for a 2023 340i Touring with those miles and that spec is the absolute top end of the market. That’s main dealer retail money. If it’s from BMW with a warranty, that’s the price you pay for peace of mind. If it’s a private sale or a small independent, it’s too steep.

I would be expecting to have to go from 19" to 18" if you want a reasonably comfortable ride.
What about the sound system? HK needed at minimum
For me, I've never had a sunroof, would never seek one, and would not take a sunroof car.
Prices today are daft

Seems a bit steep to me.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I have a saloon 340i Shadow Edition and I'm currently looking to get an M340i or M440i. There's a local garage who specialise in this kind of stock and they have a 2023 M340i Saloon with < 25k on the clock and £4500 of extras added like the technology pack, comfort pack, HK, heated steering wheel, wireless charging tray, etc. That one is going for just over £40k. I'm in the market for an older one unfortunately as my budget is around £36k otherwise I'd be test driving it this weekend.

The above is the dealer with David included in the name ? if the same one as you say he seems to stock a few 340's.

Yes. They have an M340d and M340i in at the minute.

He is around the corner from me so when was looking at buying kept an eye out.
Another one worth keeping an eye on is Redgate in Shiremoor, had a couple when I was looking 3-4 months back, none in stock at the moment.
Feel free to email me if you want any more info.

Comfort Pack doesn't contain the seats - it's just comfort access and a heated steering wheel (and the automatic tailgate on the saloon, the touring gets that anyway and not sure what it gets instead in the comfort pack) You need Comfort Package Plus for the seats unless the car is the latest version in which case the seats are now standard fit.

I'd agree that Comfort Pack is not that important.

I bought a 2020 M340i a few weeks ago, for under £30k (average mileage). An engine issue reared its head immediately so I have barely driven it while that has been sorted out.

The manual seats go nice and low, which I value more than being able to have memory presets, as my other half will hardly ever drive it I expect. No heated wheel for me, but I’ve never had one so I don’t expect I’ll miss it.

First impressions are that it is a bit wafty and not that sporty feeling (well, to steer - it’s obviously a quick car). That said, I’ve driven it mainly in comfort mode, and it is far from an E30, so that’s not very surprising.

As much as I really want one of these myself, I find the used prices way too high considering you can get brand new ones (albeit with few options) for mid 50s.

Also, new one have a small bhp and 4 mpg upgrade.

Feels steep to me. I paid £51k brand new for 2023 touring m340i with HK and one or two other bits. Contact Tony (TRL) at Berry Croydon and he will do you a great deal, tho admittedly prices will have gone up in those 3 years...

If you are PCP then invariably interesting rates and GFV will be much more attractive on a new car purchase too tho moot if you're paying cash.

Totally this

Brokers will happily list prices on their websites along these lines
TRL is a bit more discrete however will probably be in the same ball park

Don't forget though they removed a lot of the standard equipment that will be present on the 2023 ones you're seeing available used. So you also need to factor in the cost of adding this back in, especially as its useful things like the 19 inch wheels, leather seats and adaptive suspension that got removed.

That said I agree that the used prices for these seem excessive now and don't represent good value. I routinely see cars similar to mine advertised for not much less than I paid for it back in 2023. I thought they were expensive back then as well given that a new one was just over £40k in 2020...

Price aside though they are such excellent cars.

As long as people buy them they shall go for a steep price, there is an independent around the corner from where I live and he has them on a regular basis and also charges very close to what a main dealer is charging and they sell like hotcakes.
