From experience, past experience and research and other owners on these hallowed forums...I bought a BMW 7 Series that came with a 3 month warranty. That is now coming to an end and was wondering if anyone has used ALA. They've been recommended to me.
Stick with BMW when it comes to warranty
Everyone on here says official BMW warranty or nothing, however I've struggled to get BMW to cover issues which are categorically covered by their warranty. I had an F90 M5 which came standard with ambient lighting (it's standard kit on the M), the lights began to fail and had faded sections in the strip. BMW inspected and ordered parts, dropped the car off to have the work done and they called me back saying the claim had been rejected as the lights were non-standard, despite it being impossible to spec an M5 without them... I gave up in the end as I tried another branch and they rejected on the basis it had already been rejected elsewhere - this was on the AUC warranty which I believe is above the extended warranty you can pay for.
Also had an intermittent vibration on an M4 which was also under AUC warranty, they kept blaming the tyres despite having a road-force balance print out showing no issues with tyres or wheels. Only occurred over 70mph and they said they aren't allowed to road test above the speed limit.
I'm sure there must be some aftermarket warranty companies that pay out. There's a few car dealer Youtubers which I follow who mention in their videos that customers are having warranty work done by their supplier, one in particular had a replacement engine fitted to Range Rover after it lunched itself. A girl I used to work with had a leggy Evoque under some 3rd party extended warranty, she'd had a good few issues paid for by them but nothing suspension-related due to the mileage.

Have you actually had a price from ALA? There warranty prices have increased massively in the past 18 months, there not far off manufacturer prices!I bought a BMW 7 Series that came with a 3 month warranty. I did have ALA warranty a couple of years ago and they paid out for 2 claims I had. First one was 2 TPMS sensors and 2nd claim was DPF sensor.
With both claims I got diagnosis done by a local specialist, they emailed ALA with the details and they authorised the repair. I paid the bill and claimed it back, got the money back within a couple of weeks.
I always think its better to "self" warranty, bung a decent amount away each month into a high earning account is probably better TBH, or if big unexpected bills appear before you build up enough funds an interest free credit card could possibly tide you over. Looking at the problems mentioned in above posts it just confirms my view that even manufacturers will try their utmost to wriggle out of claims.
My i8 is covered with ALA. I went with them after many owners on the forum switched from BMW.
BMW charge a fortune to cover i8s once they are over 10 years old or 60k miles. Mine still fell inside this window but ALA were still half the price with a £150 labour rate and £30k max single claim. Owners who had made claims said they were easy to deal with.
