I just need the pump not the surrounding gubbins but the choice seems to be between Chinese tat and branded stuff from Latvia that will take a month to arrive. I've spent too long searching and am losing the will to live. I don't want to go secondhand as it's an awkward job I don't want to do twice and any donor pump is likely to be from a high mileage car and therefore not far from failure itself. Yes, I have ruled out buying from BMW because they want to sell the whole unit at stupido money.

Does anyone know of a good UK supplier selling a decent branded replacement? It's for 2.8 but I suspect the same for all Z3s barring the M and maybe identical to any other 2.8 engined single pump model.

APD car parts sorted me out with a decent pump (same brand as oem, can’t remember who, Bosch or continental iirc) when I had a starting issue with my e39 at a reasonable price. Genuine part with all the hologram stickers on.

Turns out the garage had misdiagnosed it and it made no difference to the problem but never mind

Many thanks. It does appear no-one has one in stock so I will just have to suck it up and change my timings. Not the end of the world.

Fortunately I have at least isolated the issue and it's most definitely the pump. Dead as a parrot.

Thank you. I have one on order from Bosch now. There does seem to be an issue with availability. Usual annoyance with suppliers saying they have availability which then turns out to be false. Should be here in the next ten days.
