Looking for some advice.

I’ve got a 2007 E92 330d which has started leaking oil from the sump following a recent oil change.

The garage that did the oil change have said it’s leaking from the sump but they can’t find the parts. They also said they’re not willing to attempt a repair and would only replace it, but apparently they can’t source the sump either. They suggested I try a BMW specialist instead.

Car details
BMW E92 330d
2007
Leak started immediately after oil change
No previous oil leak issues
Car otherwise running fine

Has anyone had something similar happen on these, particularly with the M57 engine? Also interested to know if people have repaired rather than replaced the sump.

If anyone knows a good BMW specialist in South London who might be willing to take a look, that would be really helpful. Happy to travel a bit if needed.

Would rather not give up on the car as it’s been solid otherwise.

Thanks

You say "leaking from the sump" do you mean the sump plug, the sump gasket as the fix will be different?

Sump plug. Garage said they weren't able to find a solution.

I had a leak from the sump on my e82 125i, so the N52 engine. I was told it had effectively rusted through, meaning it was dropping a small but consistent amount of oil wherever it went.

My indie went to BMW for the part too. I don't believe pattern parts exist, and my guy wouldn't go secondhand as it was likely to have the same issue.

Well that's a huge red flag given it's one of the first jobs you'd learn, even as a DIYer.

Have you actually had a look to see what's going on for yourself?

Sounds like it needs a new sump plug washer, or they've over tightened it and cracked the sump.

They sound a bit clueless, so could be either.

Well, if the genuine item is NLA from BMW ( sump plug is BMW p/n 11137535106, sump is BMW p/n 11137801363), what do they suggest?

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=WD52...

Or are they offering £500 to take the car off your hands?

If it is a stripped sump plug, then a competent mechanic/garage should be able timesert/helicoil it and fit another plug/gasket.
