E30 320i high idle speed

The Mini is going and its replacement is a E30 320i 2 door, the car has been standing for about 6 months, when idling its doing 2000rpm, if you rev it the speed drops down but then slowly creeps back up again, any ideas what could be causing it?

Try cleaning out the idle control valve
