Afternoon All,

Hoping for some suggestions or advice. For as long as I can remember I've admired bikes like the XJR1300, GSX1400 and ZRX1200. I sold a GS1200 earlier in the year and would like to finally add a muscle bike to my small collection. The problem is, unless I'm missing something, there doesn't seem to be anything that replaced the bikes I mentioned. I do keep an eye out for a nice low mileage bike but they are very rare. Most I've seen are pretty rough and 30k+ miles.

Any suggestions or bikes to consider up to around £10k?

Many Thanks

You're a bit under what a Yamaha VMX1700 VMax goes for. You're well into Ducati Diavel territory though. And HD V-Rods.

My father-in-law has the X-diavel V2 and it's an absolute monster.
I've never ridden anything with forward controls and that much power, it pulls wheelies and you're practically lying down.

I'd 100% recommend one. It even handles well.

Oops. Didn’t read the small print. Sorryfrown

While the Rocket III can be had for £10k I concede the Rocket 3 starts at £12k

I deleted my post as I didn't pick up on that bit. I often see XJR1300s so they feature in my default window shopping displacement activity.

I like a good muscle bike. I have had a few. I still have my old CB1000 Custom that I bought in 1998.

The surprising one that really stands out to me at around £10k is the Harley 1250 S Sporster.
I tried one the other day and it was very very nice indeed.
I like the looks, especially the fat front tyre. I think it wont age.
Goes like the wind too. It really does. That engine is supreme.
I noticed a nearly new one on Ebay for £9k with 100 miles on the clock.

Personally, in order to be an old school muscle bike, it needs to have an air cooled engine( or air oil cooled,) twin shocks and a big 4 cylinder engine! That rules out anything modern because you can’t built a bike like that and meet the regs.
With 10K to spend I would be buying as good a late model GSX1400 as possible. Spend the rest on some decent rear shocks, yoshi cams, power commander and a decent exhaust. But ride it first for a while, you may find it’s quick enough, there is a lot of torque!
Google GSX1400 v R1. An entertaining and surprising video.
Don’t be put off by mileage too much the engine is pretty bulletproof proof.
The black ones are the quickest!

He must have had that mapped as triumph love to take away the throttle in the lower gears. In 1st and 2nd at least 100% at the grip isn t going to give more than 40% with the factory mapping.
