I did. I like them. I was going to buy a GS adventure but something spoiled it.

Had one for a couple years and did a couple tours with the wife on the back, which it performed stunningly at…. The bike was pretty good too . Trouble was it never really grabbed me to take it out for a weekend blast round the lanes, so I ended up back on a GS…

Great touring tool…. But too focused at that for my use…

I've enjoyed the RT's I've had as loaners, they're comfy and agile and keep the elements off. Like the triple black RS behind it, not really a bike for taking down the lanes, brilliant for a full day out around the twisties.

A GS is good but to be honest Id want a KTM1290 if I was going that.. route.

Slightly weirdly I wanted one of these in my late 20s. Wife and I were doing a lot of touring and they look sooo comfy! Plus the luggage and the range. Couldn't afford it then...and now we have a wee one, I do my big miles on a FireBlade.

Its really easy to steer the bike with just using slight weight adjustments of your ass too.

That's what I've done, SDGT so you get a bit of fairing. I wouldn't mind a derestricted rocket 3 next.

I’m at that age now where an RT is starting to really appeal. I’m not sure about the low seat, mind. I rode a Pan European for a day a few years back, by the end of the day my knees were in bits.

I loved the roomy feeling of the GS. Once I’ve finished with the XR I might test ride one. The 1250RT is stonking good value right now.

I went for the 1250 but same priniples. For pillion touring they are great, with loads of luggage capacity, plenty of comfort, lots of extras yet are still about the lightest, best handling of the tourers.

Rather like their cars, BMW bikes - and the RTs in particular - tend to look a bit odd at introduction but I guess we get used to them. That's especially the case with the current model I think.

As for meeting the brief, there's nothing gets near to them.

We use them as work bikes. I love them. Ive got a GS Adventure which is a slightly better riding position for me, but just done five days on one with work and had a blast.

Definitely on my list for next time.

A few I know are switching to R1250RTs due the ride outs now being 100miles+
