Partly based on Baz's 'giving up biking' thread, and partly just curious given all the stories about young people not starting riding etc. Just wondering how old the crowd is here?

I know the younger crowd are more Reddit / Discord frequenters, but still thought it would be an interesting survey.

55 in July - prob had about 30 or 40 bikes. Currently have a zephyr 1100 ( bit of an old man’s bike but I’m not into new stuff ) and, shock horror, a tuned 1999 Vespa that is great fun to ride - gives me that two stroke buzz !

60 in July, currently have three bikes. Off to the Alps next month on the Tiger for four nights camping with a group of friends, based just south of the Col de l’Iseran. Or perhaps I’ll load up the Speed Twin instead. Then it’s ten days in Corsica in September.

I approve of any age poll that I am in the lower half of (just). Carefully crafted, well done! 54.

I don't know why I've had so many periods of my life bikeless, but I'm getting on with it.

Turning 53 in a week or so.

Had field bikes in my teens then moved to cars, I've owned 44 cars so far as they quickly bore me.

Been road riding for 18 years and only had 3 bikes in that time, as I love them and modify them and never want to sell them.

So far the age bands in the poll look like I imagined them to be smile

I'm 55, started out on field bikes in early teens and full licence at 19. Have a cruiser, tourer and a naked bike. Ride most weeks and look forward to touring abroad at least once a year.

Just turned 64 and enjoying biking as much as I ever have. I'm still happy to ride a fully loaded (passenger and luggage) R1250RT. Still enjoy riding the mountain passes with enthusiasm on my H2 SX, still commute (occasionally) into the centre of London and still willing to do to an 8-9 hour/500 mile motorway blast to get quickly to the great roads that I love riding. I have no plans to reduce my biking. In fact my plans are to increase it with more trips abroad over the next few years.

ETA - I've been riding since I was 16 - started on an SS50 smile

In general, slightly younger than I expected.

63 here.
TBH the average are is lower than I expected, but being retired my riding tends to be midweek rather than the weekend so what I'm seeing isn't representing the norm. And thank god for that.

Results are partly going to be the biking demographic and partly forum user demographic.

I'm not surprised to see mid-40s to mid 50s most represented given how little forums were used by people not vastly older than me, back when forums were commonplace.

I also think the owners groups on Facebook tend to be older, mostly 60s in my owners group, and mostly posting the same picture of their bike over and over again... I must have a bike for geriatrics tongue out

Apologies for skewing the result; 78.
Never not had a bike since the age of 16.
Gone full circle, back on a 650.
