Don't like the look of this, prog guide says 'investigating the phenomenon of the born again biker'.

Got a nasty feeling it'll be a hatchet job, but fingers crossed.

Well generally it was basically saying if you ride a bike your going to get injured or killed. The way i look at it born again bikers are no more a risk than a young guy passing his test(no experience)or an older rider(50+)who has driven for years. The whole point the program was making was that if they rode a bike years ago,had a break from it,then went back they don't take into consideration the fact that bikes have moved on,both enginewise and chassis/brakes wise.I think that would be quite apparent as soon as they kick their leg over the things and fire them up.At least they have a little maturity going for them if nothing else, that must count for something! The main reason so many people in their mid thirties and over are returning,or starting biking is as the program mentions, they have disposable income! Its not due to any midlife chrisis or anything(a phrase banded about a lot)its simply because they can afford it at that time of life.Anyone can have an accident, not because your in your thirties, because some prats in cars just pull out in front of you! They can do that to you at any age.

There was a lot of talk about speed, particularly that many bikes will do in excess of 160mph. They then wheeled in the obligatory widow to talk about her loss.

Cause of her husbands accident? They don't know. He was involved in a head on collision with a car on a road well known to him. Police could not say who was in the wrong, but they did say that neither vehicle was speeding! Quite how this was relevant to the message they were trying to give I don't know.

The basic message seemed to be "bikes are dangerous, why don't you buy a nice car instead?"
